The Senaru Crater Rim trek offers a rewarding combination of tropical rainforest, dramatic volcanic landscapes, panoramic views of Segara Anak Lake, and unforgettable sunsets and sunrises from the crater rim.

With a carefully arranged itinerary, experienced local guides, porters, meals, camping equipment, and trekking support, you can focus on enjoying the journey while our team takes care of the essential details.

Why Choose the 2D1N Senaru Crater Rim Trek?

The 2D1N Senaru route is one of the most popular Mount Rinjani trekking options for travelers with limited time.

Unlike the more demanding summit trek, this program takes you to the Senaru Crater Rim, located at approximately 2,641 meters above sea level. From the top, you can enjoy spectacular views across Lombok, the surrounding mountains, and the iconic Segara Anak Lake inside the Rinjani caldera.

This trek is a great choice if you:

  • Have only two days available for trekking
  • Want to experience Mount Rinjani without climbing to the summit
  • Prefer a challenging but shorter trekking program
  • Want to see Segara Anak Lake from the crater rim
  • Enjoy sunrise and sunset in a spectacular mountain environment
  • Are looking for a private or small-group Rinjani trekking experience

2 Days 1 Night Rinjani Senaru Itinerary

Day 1 – Senaru Village to Senaru Crater Rim

Your adventure begins in Senaru Village, the main starting point for the northern trekking route of Mount Rinjani.

After registration and a short preparation at the trekking center, you will begin walking through the lush tropical forest of Mount Rinjani National Park.

The first part of the trek passes through dense rainforest, where you may encounter various tropical plants, birds, and wildlife. The trail gradually becomes steeper as you gain altitude.

Along the way, there are several resting points where you can stop, drink water, and enjoy a packed lunch prepared by our trekking team.

After several hours of trekking, you will eventually leave the forest zone and enter the more open landscape approaching the crater rim.

The final section can be challenging, but the incredible scenery makes the effort worthwhile.

Upon reaching Senaru Crater Rim, you will be rewarded with a spectacular panoramic view of Mount Rinjani’s caldera. From here, you can see Segara Anak Lake, Mount Barujari, the surrounding valleys, and parts of northern Lombok.

Our porters will prepare your campsite while you relax and enjoy the mountain atmosphere.

In the evening, enjoy dinner while watching the sunset over the horizon. On a clear night, the crater rim becomes an incredible place for stargazing.

Meals: Lunch and Dinner

Day 2 – Sunrise at Senaru Crater Rim and Descent to Senaru Village

Wake up early to experience the beautiful sunrise from Senaru Crater Rim.

As the sky begins to brighten, the surrounding mountains and volcanic landscape gradually appear beneath the morning light. On a clear day, you may also see the silhouettes of Mount Agung in Bali and Mount Tambora in Sumbawa from a distance.

After breakfast and some time to enjoy the scenery, you will begin your descent back to Senaru Village.

The downhill journey follows the same general route through the tropical forest. Although descending is generally easier than climbing, the trail can still be demanding, particularly around steeper sections.

After reaching Senaru Village, our team will assist with your transfer to your next destination.

Trekking Duration and Difficulty

The 2D1N Crater Rim Senaru trek is considered a challenging mountain trekking experience.

The total trekking time depends on your fitness level, weather conditions, trail conditions, and the pace of the group.

A typical itinerary involves approximately:

Day Route Estimated Trekking Time
Day 1 Senaru Village → Senaru Crater Rim 6–8 hours
Day 2 Senaru Crater Rim → Senaru Village 5–7 hours

The trail includes steep sections, uneven terrain, and changes in elevation. Good physical preparation is recommended before joining the trek.

What Makes Senaru Crater Rim Special?

One of the biggest attractions of this route is the view from the Senaru Crater Rim.

Unlike the summit route, which focuses on reaching the highest point of Mount Rinjani, the Senaru Crater Rim trek allows you to spend more time appreciating the enormous volcanic caldera and the landscape surrounding Segara Anak Lake.

The combination of rainforest, volcanic terrain, crater cliffs, and panoramic mountain views makes this route particularly attractive for photographers and nature lovers.
